The Galsi project is backed by the shareholders, Sonatrach, Edison, Enel, Sfirs and Hera. Snam Rete Gas is also involved in the construction and future operation of the Italian section of the pipeline, from its landing south of Porto Botte in Sardinia through to Piombino.

At present Galsi has no offices in Sardinia. As works progress Galsi may decide to open an operational base in Sardinia. Currently Galsi's operational headquarters and registered office are in Milan.

Galsi will remain exclusively a gas transportation company and will not be involved in its marketing. Each of the Galsi shareholders has signed an agreement with Sonatrach ensuring a share of gas trading rights.
