Sonatrach is an Algerian state-owned company for the exploration, extraction, transport, refining and trading of hydrocarbon products and derivatives. It is the world's 12th biggest petroleum company, the 2nd exporter of LNG and LPG worldwide and the 3rd for natural gas.

Founded in 1883, Edison is Europe's oldest energy company and today is one of Italy's leading operators in the production, procurement, sale and distribution of electricity and natural gas. In hydrocarbons, Edison has an integrated presence in the natural gas supply chain, with a market share of 16%.


Enel is Italy's largest power company and the second biggest listed utility in Europe by installed capacity. Enel produces, distributes and sells electricity and gas throughout Europe, North America and Latin America. It is present in 21 countries, with a capacity of 75,500 MW (at 31 Dec 2007), delivering power and gas to more than 50 million customers.

Founded in 1966, SFIRS invests in strategic and innovative businesses operating in Sardinia. The company, owned 93% by the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, finances regional and territorial development programmes, infrastructure works and projects for the economic development of Sardinia.


Created in 2002 by the union of twelve Emilia Romagna public service companies, Hera is today the third Italian multiutility with gas sales of 2,409 million cubic meters of gas and the eighth Italian power company by sales of electricity (3,133 GWh).
