Pollution from motor vehicles

The transport sector is one of the biggest sources of atmospheric pollution with vehicle emissions playing a major role in the production of smog and greenhouse gases.

Using natural gas in the transport sector will cut pollution from petrol and diesel fuelled vehicles. Gas powered vehicles produce lower emissions of carbon monoxide (up to 90% less), carbon dioxide (around 20% less), and nitrous oxides (35 - 60% less) than conventional petrol engines. In addition, unlike traditional vehicles they do not emit particulates and other substances damaging to health such as benzene.
